DIY BURGER KIT: 'SLUTTY' VEGAN BURGERS NOW AVAILABLE
As restaurants continue to stay closed we have expanded our FoodSlut burger menu. We are now taking orders for the new 'Slutty' Vegan Burger!
Foodslut was started by Jack Whitehall, his brother Barney Whitehall and friend Marcus Petty Saphon as a way to celebrate and share fun, delicious and ‘slutty’ recipes during lockdown. The food blog recently held their stay at home burger competition, which saw hundreds of entries and also raised funds for The Felix Project. The competition saw Jack cook along live on instagram with the likes of Jamie Redknapp, Gordon Ramsay and his parents, Michael and Hilary. The winners were judged by a panel including Gregg Wallace and Candice Brown.
We will be donating to The Felix Project who collect fresh, nutritious food around London that cannot be sold. They deliver this surplus food to charities and schools so they can provide healthy meals and help the most vulnerable in our society. Now more than ever the charity welcomes donations to help families during this period.
Below we have listed a step by step guide to help you prepare the ultimate 'slutty VEGAN burgers' for you to enjoy with your household.
Included in the pack :
* Brioche Buns
* 2 x Meatless Patties
* Charred Jalapeno Vegan Cheese Sauce
* Vegan Burger Sauce
* Dill Bread & Butter Pickles
* Crispy Shallots
You will need to provide:
* Iceberg Lettuce
1. BUILD YOUR BASES
Pre-heat the oven to 180c. Slice and toast the buns. Take the bottom and place 1 tbsp of the vegan burger sauce and spread it to the edges. Then place the sliced iceberg lettuce and pickles on top. Your base is ready.
2. COOK YOUR PATTIES
Heat your frying pan to a medium heat. Add some oil in the pan and carefully place the patties into the pan. Squash them down slightly and season very well with salt and pepper. After around 4 minutes on one side flip the patties over to get a good crust on the other side for another 4 mins. Take them out of the pan and transfer to an oven proof dish for a further 4 minutes.
3. SLUT THEM UP
Transfer the "cheese sauce" to a small pan and warm it up gently. Cover the patties in the "Cheese sauce" sprinkle with shallots and top with the bun.
4. THE STEAM (OPTIONAL STEP BUT WORTH IT!)
Top each burger with the top of the bun, for an extra level at this point put a splash of water in the pan and cover with a lid to steam the buns and make them extra juicy. Take each burger out of the pan and place on the base.
